The Australian Democrats - PEACE PARTY! For 30 years we have worked to curb nuclear and weapons proliferation and promote peace We are committed to a peaceful and nuclear-free future. We want an Australia free of uranium mines, nuclear waste dumps and nuclear power. And we want to see Australia at the forefront in strengthening international institutions, building respect for human rights and promoting the rule of law. Australia once led the world in nuclear non-proliferation. Now it has joined the war mongers in Iraq and elsewhere. Has all our military spending made us any safer? This is far from certain. Could it be better spent? We believe so.
