The Australian Democrats condemn the Government's intransigence in refusing to respond to two important reports dealing with student income support.
"The Government is mistaken if it thinks that the Budget will get it off the hook on this issue," Democrats' Spokesperson for Higher Education, Senator Natasha Stott Despoja said.
The Government today voted against a motion moved by Senator Stott Despoja urging them to respond to the recent report on student finances by the Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee and the report on student income support by the Senate Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Committee that was published almost two years ago.
"In refusing to respond to the important issues raised in both reports the Government is disrespecting the AVCC, the Senate, and struggling students," Senator Stott Despoja said.
