The Australian Democrats have today announced that international Media professional Adam Webb has been appointed National Communications Policy Coordinator.
Mr Webb and the National Communications Policy Group will work on finding the right policy for the future of this country's communication and Commercial Media, including television, radio and print media. They will also work closely with Technology Policy Coordinator Geordie Guy and his working group on internet content and cross over issues.
Mr Webb has recently returned to Australia after working for almost a decade in Europe and the United States in the media, from producing movies to guiding multinational broadcast networks on the future of television as a digital medium. He is now based in Perth, Western Australia.
"Communications is a huge portfolio, which includes all of Australia's Media. I believe that our society needs to feel confident that what we read, hear or see is factual, honest, and reliable. Further, as communication is always evolving, we are excited about what the future will bring for all Australians." Mr Webb said.
The recently announced policy development process is part of the rebuild plan of The Australian Democrats. This process sees ordinary members, led by technical experts in the area such as Mr Webb, producing insightful and inspired policy in a way that is open, transparent, and engages ordinary Australians in the process.
