Dr Roger Yazbek – no. 1 Senate candidate SA

Tell us about yourself

I am a new father, a medical researcher and a teacher in training. I am passionate about improving the health and well-being of all people. My family immigrated to Australia from Lebanon when I was 2 years old, and benefited greatly from the opportunities Australia provided. I want to make sure that ALL Australians continue to receive those same opportunities.

Why choose to be a candidate for the Democrats?

Evidence over ideology. The Australian Democrats stand for honesty, integrity, and fairness, values I strongly believe in.

What would you most want to achieve in your first term as a Senator?

Introduction of safeguards to protect and expand Australia’s universal healthcare system. A plan to secure Australia’s science and research workforce to make sure Australia is well prepared for future challenges.
