The New Zealand PM has today announced a NZ$12.1 billion or 4% of GDP package for business, the health system and people in isolation. Ours is less than 1%. New Zealand has 12 confirmed cases, Australia 531.
Starting immediately is a NZ$5 billion fund for wage subsidies in all sectors and regions.
Adjusted for population size, this NZ$12.1 billion is equivalent to a $40 billion spend in Australia. The PM’s current offer is $20 billion.
