Who we are

About Us

The people's watchdog in the Senate — independent, evidence-led, and back where we're needed most.

We have a proud record of being the people's watchdog in the Senate, holding governments to account, scrutinising legislation, and amending it to better serve the nation.

Our vision is for Australia to be inclusive, compassionate, community-focused, environmentally sustainable, and economically responsible.

Our platforms are thoroughly researched. We look for solutions to difficult problems. We negotiate rather than grandstand. Our focus now is to return to the Senate.

Our values

What we stand for

Four promises that guide everything we do — the principles behind a principled party.

Evidence based governance

Evidence based governance

We promise to accept the scientific method as the best tool to understand the world around us, and to determine positions and act according to evidence, merit and best practice, not partisan ideology nor vested interest. When the facts change, we change our position accordingly.

Integrity, truth and transparency

Integrity, truth and transparency

We promise to act honestly and ethically, to admit when we get it wrong and to tell the truth, always. We are now in a tough, post-truth, anti-science, anti-expertise world so telling the truth is crucial. Keeping the bastards honest starts with us.

Working together

Working together

We promise to work collaboratively to find solutions. We look for common ground where there are differences.

Looking out for one another and the planet

Looking out for one another and the planet

We promise to act with respect, fairness, and compassion; supporting one another in tough times and preserving the planet for future generations. Australia is a rich, highly-educated nation. We can afford quality education, health care, housing and social security.

We can make a difference

Australia can be a better country and a good global citizen. We once led the world on disarmament, economic sanctions against apartheid South Africa and the ban on nuclear testing. Australia has a long list of world-changing inventions — the electric drill in 1889, ultrasound technology, the bionic ear, wifi, rooftop solar panels, polymer banknotes and the rotary lawn mower. We're a middle power in the top twenty nations for our economy and military. We can make a difference.

What about you?

Do our values align with yours? Do you want the original environment and accountability party back in parliament, serving the nation's interests? If yes, please help us. Join, donate, tell others about us.
