This lose/lose strategy has been described in RenewEconomy as a Mexican standoff to see who goes broke first.
We really need more wind, storage, including more pumped hydro, and greater investment in concentrated solar thermal which can take advantage of the shoulder peak periods.
One thing is for sure – this stoush is not helping in the urgent need to transform the nation’s power to renewable energy and the Australian Energy Regulator should step in before investment in clean energy dries up altogether.
