This is really mean. The Treasurer announced today that once vaccination rates reach 70 percent, disaster payments will start to be phased out. They will then be tapered off over 2 weeks after 80 percent of people over 16 are fully vaccinated.
Josh Frydenberg says this will give certainty. Certainty that a lot of people still in lockdown will be on JobSeeker rates and in serious financial trouble!
Of course it’s a ploy to get state governments to remove restrictions and/or find the money to replace those disaster payments.
We are all sick of lockdown but with 950+ new cases in Victoria it’s not the time to open up.
